Quel est le rôle de votre filtre à carburant ?
Le filtre à carburant est une pièce importante et nécessaire à la longévité de votre moteur car il contribue à lutter contre son principal ennemi : la saleté. Il empêche les particules et autres impuretés du réservoir de parvenir jusqu’au circuit d’alimentation. Il évite également que l’eau ne gagne les injecteurs et par conséquent le système d’injection lorsque se produit un phénomène de condensation. En protégeant le moteur, le filtre allonge sa durée de vie, évite une usure prématurée et une surconsommation de carburant. Il existe différents types de filtres. Certains ne se limitent pas uniquement à la filtration, ils régulent aussi la pression et la température. Selon les modèles, ils se placent au niveau du moteur ou sous le véhicule, au niveau des roues arrière.
Quand changer votre filtre à carburant ?
En général, les experts en entretien de véhicules recommandent de changer le filtre à carburant une fois par an ou entre 15 000 et 20 000 km selon les cas, ou jusqu’à 60 000 km pour les moteurs essence. Cependant, certains signes peuvent vous indiquer qu’il est temps de le changer. Si vous sentez des à-coups plus ou moins réguliers, que vous avez des difficultés au démarrage ou l’impression que le moteur peine davantage, mieux vaut le remplacer sans attendre plus longtemps.
Pourquoi changer votre filtre à carburant ?
Le filtre à carburant évite les dangers potentiels provoqués par le carburant, à savoir l’atteinte du moteur résultant de l’accumulation d’impuretés. Un moteur encrassé est un moteur malade. Si le filtre ne remplit pas sa fonction efficacement, votre véhicule présentera des symptômes plus ou moins graves : surconsommation, pollution, moteur moins performant. Dans le cas des moteurs diesel, il empêche que l’eau ne se mêle au carburant, ce qui pourrait conduire à la destruction d’organes onéreux en périphérie du moteur.
