Quel est le fonctionnement des roulements de roue ?

Logés au sein du demi-train de roue, le roulement de roue permet à la roue de se mettre en rotation en lien avec le moyeu. Facilitant ainsi le mouvement de la roue, il va également éliminer toute résistance et limiter les frottements. Elles sont conçues pour résister aux frictions, aux chocs et aux fortes variations de températures. Ainsi, le roulement de roue se décompose en 3 éléments principaux :

  • La bague externe : elle est installée sur le moyeu de votre roue et présente un chemin de roulement pour loger les billes ;
  • La bague interne : elle est également lié au moyeu mais par la fusée du train de votre roue ;
  • Les billes de roulement : leur rôle est d’assurer la rotation des bagues et donc des roues de votre véhicule. Maintenues entre elles par un revêtement de plastique, cela permet leur rotation tout en maintenant leur position initiale.

Comment savoir si un roulement de roue est HS ?

Les roulement de roue ont une durée de vie d’environ 20 000 kilomètres dans le cadre d’une utilisation normale de votre voiture. Cependant, ils peuvent s’user plus rapidement si la conduite est trop brusque (accidents, chocs contre des trottoirs) ou que l’entretien du véhicule est négligé. Plusieurs symptômes avant-coureurs peuvent vous annoncer l’usure de vos roulements de roue tels que :

  • Un bruit de frottement est audible : comme le roulement de roue n’est plus en mesure de limiter les frottements, ce son se fera entendre lors de vos déplacements ;
  • De fortes vibrations se font ressentir : si les roulements de roue sont HS, cela entraîne beaucoup de vibrations et de bruit ;
  • Un son de ronflement sourd provient des roues : la résistance n’est plus assurée, ce ronflement peut être plus ou moins accentué selon les situations.

Contrairement au pneu, les roulements de roue se changent seuls. En effet, ils ne nécessitent pas d’être changés par paire.

Comment savoir quel roulement de roue est HS ?

Si vous souhaitez connaître avec précision le roulement de roue qui est HS, il sera nécessaire de tendre l’oreille lorsque vous êtes à bord de votre véhicule. Vous serez en mesure d’identifier si le bruit provient de l’avant ou de l’arrière, celui-ci sera accentué lors des virages.

En fonction du côté du virage (gauche ou droite), vous serez déjà en mesure de connaître quelle partie du véhicule est touchée par le roulement de roue défectueux. Par exemple, si vous tournez vers la droite et que vous entendez le frottement ou le ronflement, c’est le roulement de roue gauche qui est touché. Et inversement lorsque vous tournez vers la gauche.
